Ringing Endorsement

Got another blurb for CONTROL POINT today, and this one has special resonance for me.

You’ll recall from an earlier blog entry that I had some concern over my ability to pull off a novel that would appeal to readers outside my immediate circle of experience. CONTROL POINT is a gear heavy, testosterone jacked, bullet storm of a story. I’ve done my best to run threads of romance through it, to paint a range of diverse and believable

characters that the largest audience possible could identify with. I want this book to be more than war porn.

So I got really, really nervous when National Bestseller Ann Aguirre, who has made her name in romance and young adult novels, asked to read it. My stomach twisted itself in knots as soon as I sent my baby off to be judged by her. This is a lady who can sniff out wooden romantic motivations. If your love interest or your adolescent angst is weak or contrived (CONTROL POINT has both), Ann is going to spot it.

And anyone who follows her Twitter feed knows this is a lady who doesn’t pull a whole lot of punches.

So when I saw an email from her in my inbox with the subject line of: BLURB, well, let’s just say it took me a long time to click on it.

Here’s what it said: “Hands down, the best military fantasy I’ve ever read; CONTROL POINT is a chilling, enthralling story. Myke Cole just might be a wizard himself.”

I’ll admit it. I got a little choked up.

Because if Ann likes it, then maybe you will too. And by “you,” I mean the royal you. *All* of you. Which means that maybe this writing thing can work out after all.
