SOC Pens and Lunacon Schedule

I’ve been cleaning up in the gifts department over the last few months. To date, fans have given me a care package of Pocky, SOC uniform patches, a Christmas wreath based on the C4U (Umbra Coven) logo, a crocheted kitteh, a T-shirt, challenge coins, and enough free booze and meals that the term “starving” writer hardly applies anymore.

But I wanted to call special attention to this one, a set of SOC pens.

It’s kind of hard to show the whole thing …

What I love about this is that it’s a nod to the fact that CONTROL POINT is a book about bureaucracy as much as it’s about action. While the SOC operators are the ones kicking down your door, the folks who make the life or death decisions about your future when you come up Latent are Washington bureaucrats. Who knows? Maybe they’d use pens just like these to write in the margins of their power point slides before the next budget briefing.

I also want to let folks know my schedule for Lunacon this weekend. Lunacon was my first con ever, and my mainstay as a kid, so it is special for me to finally attend as a pro and a speaker. I’ll be panelling, reading and autographing this weekend, and I hope you’ll come on out and say hi.

• Future Fantasy (Panel), Fri 20:00 — 21:00, Elijah Budd

• Reading: Myke Cole (Reading) (M), Fri 21:00 — 21:30, Bartell

• Autographing: Cole, Lang, Lequidre (Autographing), Sat 16:00 — 17:00, Westchester Assembly

Dammit. We’re driving right past on our way to Brockton, MA; every year, we go up there for a big charity event that the local animal shelter system puts on, and we help (a longtime friend is very active with them). We’ll wave as we pass. :/
