I will sign your book

Well, it’s only *2 days* until the official release of CONTROL POINT (though a few people are reporting they are getting copies they ordered in the mail already). I’ve blocked out Tuesday, the 31st to hit every bookstore I can (the few that are left) and sign as many copies as possible. If you live in New York City, your chances of being able to get a signed copy are going to be pretty good.

But even if you don’t live in New York City, I still want you to be able to get a signed copy. To that end, I’ve had bookplates printed up. These plates have adhesive backs, so you can stick them in the inside cover of your book. I will sign, date and/or personalize these bookplates however you want. If you want an autographed book plate, just email me at myke (at) mykecole (dot) com and let me know how you want it personalized (if at all) and whether or not you want it dated. Then, give me your address and I’ll mail it to you. This is all free of charge. Postage is on me. Please specify whether you want the SOC or the Shadow Coven logo on your bookplate. I have plenty of both.

The SOC logo

That said, you need to take a second in your email and let me know who you are. I apologize for adding that hurdle in there, but it’s necessary to avoid getting bombarded by bots that troll the web, looking for giveaways/free stuff. I want to ensure that these autographed bookplates are only going to real readers of CONTROL POINT. (Just put a note in your email saying “Hi! I’m so-and-so from wherever and I actually own a copy of CONTROL POINT. I’d love to have a signed bookplate” or something like that).

For those of you who only eRead, I will sign your Kindle, Nook, iPad, Kobo or other eDevice using metallic ink pens, but I need you to catch me at a con, signing or reading for that! Check out my SITREP page for upcoming appearances. The bookplates will stick just fine to any eReader as well.

One last plug before I go: the cover for CONTROL POINT is well in the lead on the Qwillery’s debut author cover wars contest! If you can find the time to head over and

Shadow Coven’s logo

vote, I’d be grateful. This is less for me and my writing, and more for Michael Komarck and his incredible cover art. You can check out more of Mike’s work at his website. I love CONTROL POINT’s cover and am a huge fan of Komarck’s work and I really, really want to see him win.

All right! Two days to zero. Here’s hoping that if you have a copy of CONTROL POINT and you can’t catch up to me in person, that you’ll drop me an email and let me sign a bookplate for you. If you’re reading the novel, that means you’re helping to make my life’s dream possible, and that means I owe you.

And I always pay my debts. Thanks.

Awesome stuff Myke, I can not wait to see the numbers on your book and when it hits the NYTBSL we will have a drink in your honor.

Awesome!  I can’t wait for this book to come in the mail.  If you’re coming to Balticon this year, I’ll bring my copy for you to sign there, if that’s OK.

I’ll be at Balticon and I’d be honored to sign it for you :)

    Hi Myke!

Quick questions — who designed the SOC & Shadow Coven logos?  Do you think they’ll ever be available as patches?  They’re awesome!

    • Anonymous

They’re by Paul Jacobsen (http://www.tactical-graphic-design.com/). I own the art, so feel free to have them made as patches if you’d like. I’m sure you could work something through Cafe Press! Really glad you like them, they are taken directly from my descriptions in the book.

Voted for the cover art and will catch you at Balticon.

So pumped to read it Myke! Congrats!

Good luck with the release. I heard about you and Saladin Ahmed through tweets from Epic Confusion, and I’ve got both your books on pre-order. Looking forward to reading them.

Just stopping by to wish you a great release day and hoping your release week numbers are awesome.

I’m a regular reader of Shiloh Walker and I also blogged about your guest post at her blog last week.

Hi, I just read the exerpt. Looks good. However, do you know when it will be released in Australia? I’ve never liked going through online bookshops.

Also, I have a story in the back of my head. One of the problems is that I have no idea how the military would *really* use a Jedi. It looks like this book may point me in the right direction.

    • Anonymous

I have a deal with Headline (Hachette) for the UK and Australia. I believe it will release there (with a new cover!) in September. After that, books 2 and 3 will be released in synch in the US, the UK and Australia.

      • Tommy

September? Damnit. I may wait that long. I may not. Thanks for the info, anyway.

  • Kevin P.

Already finished reading Control Point (damnit, now I gotta wait a year for the next one!), and loved it.

Any chance of you making it to Dragon*Con this year?  I was lucky enough to snag an ARC of the book from the Alpha auction, and although it came with the SOC bookplate I’d like to get the actual book signed along with the paperback I pre-ordered.

    • Anonymous

Thanks for the support! I am wavering between DragonCon and WorldCon this year. For reasons known only to the organizers, they are both on the same weekend.

      • Kevin P.

If you’ve never been to DragonCon before, you need to.  It’s unlike anything you’ve ever experienced: a 4-day geek party with 40,000+ of your closest friends.  My daughter and I went last year.  It was hot, it was crowded, and it was the most fun we’ve ever had.  So much so that we  ordered passes for this year’s ‘Con as soon as they went on sale.

        Hope to see you there.
